Heather E. Carnaghan (the Pocket Coach) is a National Board certified and renewed teacher with 17 years of experience in traditional public, public charter, and public contract schools. Her public charter and contract experience includes extensive project based learning curriculum development as a teacher in the Expeditionary Learning and International Baccalaureate programs. Heather has a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education, Masters in Teaching Reading, an Administrator I certificate, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. She was named Anne Arundel County Teacher of the Year and a finalist for Maryland Teacher of the Year in 2018 while teaching “Collaborative Student Inquiry”, a project based learning middle school course she developed and piloted. Heather has also developed and supported project based learning curriculum for Kaiser Permanente and the University of Maryland’s Center for Early Childhood Education and Intervention.
